A traditional central air conditioning system has two parts: an indoor unit, such as an air handler or furnace and evaporator coil, and an outdoor unit, such as an Air Conditioner or Heat Pump. The Heat Pump is the outdoor unit of an air conditioning system which contains the compressor. These units are both capable of cooling and heating the home (these units are recommended in climates where temperatures rarely fall below 25 degrees). Heat pumps range from 13 to 18 SEER among the highest efficiency ratings in the industry. A higher SEER saves you money on your electrical utility bills.
